Children from many communities of the Greater Philadelphia Region will have the opportunity to participate in the community relations program, Hooked On Hockey, during the month of July. The hockey teams visited Starr Playground, 6th and Lombard Sts. Recently.
This program is sponsored by the Philadelphia Flyers and Phantoms and has clinics scheduled at the following 13 locations:
Each event will be hosted by Flyers Ambassador of Hockey Bob "The Hound" Kelly and members of the Fan Development Department. The program's main goal is to create hockey awareness among children and teach them how they can benefit and have fun with the sport of hockey. In support of this grassroots initiative, the Flyers and the Phantoms will contribute Mylec hockey sticks to all program participants in an effort to keep kids 'hooked on hockey.' Each Hooked On Hockey event will include an introduction of basic hockey fundamentals, skills competitions, activity books for all participants and various fun activities.
