The fifth annual Liberty Bell Invitational Hockey Tournament will be held on September 24 and 25 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Class of 1923 Rink.

Teams for this year tourney are—University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph’s University, Villanova University and Temple University.

Last year’s champion was Dave Berger’s U of Penn squad.

Saint Joseph’s head coach Finbarr O’Connor has stepped down after a run of 34 seasons in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The 2004-05 campaign was very rewarding for O’Connor.

The team completed it first ever undefeated season in the DVCHC, going 11-0-1.

During O’Connor’s time, the Hawks won five championships.

In 634 games, O’Connor’s record was 360-228-46. O’Connor has coached all but two seasons at St. Joe’s hockey history. During the 1940-41 and 1941-42 seasons, the Hawks were coached by another former FBI agent—Rudy Wise.

Taking over the reigns will be head coach Hugh Walsh and coach Rick Savarese, who served as assistants for the past four seasons. Both played for St. Joe’s during the 1980s.

Saint Joe’s and Temple have decided to move up in league play to the Mid Atlantic College Hockey Association.

The league consists of: Penn, Lafayette, Princeton, Rider, Seton Hall, Univ. of MD, Balt. Co., Wagner and William Paterson.

The Hawks will be playing their home games at the Skatium in Havertown, Pa.
