Hobey Baker Finalist Grumet-Morris Profile

HARVARD UNIVERSITY SENIOR GOALTENDER DOV GRUMET-MORRIS

Leads all Division I netminders with a .949 save percentage. Has 16 occasions with 30+ saves in 2004-05.

Owns a goals against average of 1.53, second nationally.

Has helped Harvard to a 20-8-3 mark and #11 national ranking.

Boasts a 1.17 GAA and stopped 176 of the 183 shots he faced (.962 save percentage) in games against teams ranked in the national top ten at the time of the game. Harvard is 5-1-0 in those games this season.

Harvard has allowed two or fewer goals in 24 of 31 games this season, and is 19-3-2 in those contests. Grumet-Morris has allowed one goal or fewer in 15 of his 28 appearances, and backstopped the team to just its second scoreless tie in school history (Dec. 22 vs. Northern Michigan).

Harvard's career recordholder in games played (111), minutes played (6,582), and shutouts (11); also set the record for single-season shutouts (6). Needs 14 saves to become the recordholder in that category, and will likely graduate with the school mark in career save percentage. Also owns the school record for single-season games started, games played, and minutes played, all set as a junior. Currently challenging the school mark in single-season GAA and save percentage. Could graduate with up to 11 school records.

Current save percentage is the best in a single season in ECAC Hockey League history and third in the NCAA annals behind Jimmy Howard's .954 for Maine in 2004, and Michigan State's Ryan Miller's .950 when he won the Hobey in 2001. Grumet-Morris' career save percentage (.923) would rank fifth in the NCAA records.

Grumet-Morris' current 1.53 GAA would rank ninth all-time in the NCAA record book for a single season, and fourth in the ECACHL; his career GAA (2.24) would be fifth in the ECACHL and 14th nationally. In addition, he has moved into fourth place for shutouts in a season (6) and fifth for career shutouts (11), sixth place in the ECACHL annals for career games played (111), fourth in career minutes (6,582), eighth in career saves (2,963) and seventh in career victories (62).

The winningest goaltender in ECAC Tournament history, both single-season (6-0 in 2004) and career (15-1-0 in his four seasons, with two games remaining). Owns a career 1.60 GAA and .940 save percentage in ECACHL Tournament games. Has backstopped the Crimson to the ECACHL Tournament finals first three seasons of his career - including titles in 2002 and 2004. A two-time ECACHL All-Tournament Team selection.

Has led Harvard to three straight NCAA appearances - one of just five schools in the country which has been in the last three Tournaments.

Has a grade-point average of 3.223 (including a 3.56 as a first-semester senior) as a dual concentrator in Government/International Relations and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, one of two undergraduates at Harvard to have this particular double-major. Is completing his senior thesis on Jordanian Israeli foreign policy during the 1960's, specifically covering the 1967 and 1973 Arab-Israeli Wars. Expects to graduate with Honors in June.

Three-time ECAC All-Academic Selection; Academic All-America Nominee.

Involved with the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, tutors 7th and 8th grade students at a local middle school, and has volunteered his time to help organize, build, and operate the campus-wide Black Students Association's artistic productions. Works with the team-founded and team-run Crimson City Hockey Clinic, which offers a free hockey camp to inner-city Boston youth each summer.
