FLYERS/PHANTOMS’ SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
PROGRAM CAPS AN OUTSTANDING SEASON

The Philadelphia Flyers/Phantoms’ 2004-05 School Assembly Program will conclude a very successful season with a visit to the Holy Trinity Catholic School in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania on Friday, June 3, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Flyers Ambassador of Hockey Bob “The Hound” Kelly will be on hand to address the students and introduce the Flyers/Phantoms’ Formula for Success - TEAM (Teamwork, Education, Attitude and Motivation). Phlex, the Philadelphia Phantoms’ mascot and resident superhero, will be on hand to help out Kelly.

“When we visit schools in the region, the message that we want to make is that the Flyers care,” said Kelly. “We are out there for the kids and hopefully, they can take something positive away from these assemblies. We want these kids to know that they have their whole lives ahead of them and that they should get involved with a sport, and not necessarily hockey. Participating in sports gives you a healthy mind and helps you develop skills that you can use throughout your life.”

Including the visit to Holy Trinity Catholic School, the Flyers/Phantoms’ School Assembly Program will have reached approximately 13,200 students in the Greater Philadelphia Region. The program is an effort to define the meaning of teamwork and help children recognize the importance of teamwork in school, sports, at home and throughout their daily lives. Each student received a Flyers Activity Book and had the opportunity to win prizes.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Phantoms are dedicated to improving the Greater Philadelphia Region, which has supported us so well over the years, through our leadership of and assistance with various community events and programs. The Community Relations and Fan Development Departments focus their efforts on programs that assist in the development and positive growth of children, using the sport of hockey as the means to touch the lives of others. Specific community activities include hospital visits, youth hockey clinics, holiday volunteering, educational assemblies and seminars, and donations of autographed and promotional items to charitable organizations. With support from the entire Flyers and Phantoms organizations, we strive to make our community a better place to live.- FLYERS/PHANTOMS -
