Flyers Have a Prayer

Newly named Cardinal John Foley displayed a Philadelphia Flyers puck he received shortly after being named among the latest Cardinals by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome. With the Cardinal are Mr. Robert Sims (left) and Joan and Joe Kadlec.

It has been in the years since 1984 that American television audiences have come to know and feel a special kinship with Cardinal-Elect Foley.

He has demonstrated a wonderful ability to explain many of the intricacies and mysteries of the workings of the Vatican and the Latin mass to an audience that has both Catholics and non-Catholics.

Foley was particularly stellar during the papal conclave of 2005 in which Joseph Alois Ratzinger was elected Pope.
