Cross Lake Islanders Capture Ice Works Cup

The Cross Lake (Manitoba) Islanders, a midget group of 15 and 16 year olds, traveled from Northern-Midwest Canada to the Ice Works Arena in Aston, Pa. for the annual hockey tournament.

By the time the weekend was over, the Islanders had captured the Ice Works Memorial Weekend Hockey Tournament. They defeated the Schawnee Blackhawks.

Former Flyer super star goal scorer Reggie Leach presented the Canadians with the tourney trophy.

During the Philadelphia stay, the Cross Lake team took a trip to the Wachovia Center and were hosted by Joe Watson and Joe Kadlec.
