FLYERS DANNY BRIERE AND CLAUDE GIROUX TO RECEIVE GOOD LUCK AT ALL-STAR GAME WISHES FROM YOUNG ED SNIDER YOUTH HOCKEY FOUNDATION PARTICIPANTS

BRIERE AND GIROUX TO REPRESENT PHILADELPHIA AND THE FLYERS IN ANNUAL ALL-STAR CLASSIC IN CAROLINA ON JANUARY 30

DATE: Tuesday, January 25 at 4:45 p.m. (sharp)

PLACE: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA

DETAILS: Members of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation will present Philadelphia Flyers Forwards Danny Briere and Claude Giroux with good luck cards, in both English and French, for being selected to play in the annual classic in Carolina on Sunday, January 30. Briere and Giroux will present the young hockey hopefuls with replica All-Star T-shirts.

Danny Briere leads the Flyers in goals with 25 and also has 18 assists for 43 points. He had a four-point game back on Jan. 11, posting a goal and three assists at Buffalo, and has at least a point in eight of the club’s 11 games this month.

Claude Giroux leads the Flyers in scoring with 46 points on 18 goals and 28 assists. He is on a six-game scoring streak, the latest installment of which was a career-high four-point game on Sunday at Chicago. With that, he now has two goals and eight assists for 10 points in those six games. This is the longest point streak of Giroux’s career, eclipsing the five-game streak he set earlier this season from Oct. 26 –Nov. 4.

The Flyers are currently in first place overall in the NHL with 69 points.

Flyers founder Ed Snider created Snider Hockey in 2005 as a personal commitment to teach children important life lessons. The Foundation uses the sport of ice hockey as its “hook” to bring a diverse population of children together, enabling them to enjoy a top-notch sports experience coupled with an array of educational activities and character development. The program has rapidly grown to include over 2,500 participants in just its fourth full season.

Snider Hockey holds the core belief that the great game of hockey provides a unique environment for not only teaching the merits of a healthy lifestyle, good sportsmanship, and the value of competition, but fundamental life lessons as well: the benefits of hard work, honest effort, commitment to common goals, and respect for colleagues and the rules of society. We are building productive, safe and caring communities, one child at a time, by giving kids compelling incentives to value their education, care for their neighborhoods, and better themselves—all in the context of having fun.
